North Carolina is an Agreement State, which means that the State entered into an agreement with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) so the State regulates the use of radioactive material instead of the NRC. Part of the agreement is that the State's rules for the protection against radiation are compatible with those of the NRC. The Radiation Protection Commission is the body responsible for creating and adopting these rules. UPDATE: Rules under revision were published in the NC Register on October 3, 2016 beginning on page 549. The public comment period began the date that the rules were published, and a public hearing is scheduled for November 18, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 131 of the Wright Building located on the Dorthea Dix Campus, 1201 Umstead Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603. The end of the public comment period falls on December 2, 2016. Please send any comments on these rules to: [email protected] or by mail to: Nadine Pfeiffer, Division of Health Service Regulation, 2701 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-2701 |
